According to a White House press release, the U.S. government plans to shutdown 195 datacenters this year and 178 in 2012. Obama’s goal is to close 800 data centers by 2015. The consolidation is supposed to save more than $3 billion dollars. Naturally, the U.S. government did not reveal how much it will cost migrating these computing services to other federal data centers or private data centers.
