    <summary type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Apple has officially launched the new <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2450598-10480544" target="_blank">iPhone</a> 3G after weeks of speculation.</p>
<p>The company says that the new device is a combination of the existing iPhone and the networking powers of 3G, which it claims is "twice as fast at half the price ".</p>
<p>Apple announced that the new <a href="http://www.jdoqocy.com/click-2450598-10480544" target="_blank">iPhone</a> will be priced at $199 for the 8GB model, with the 16GB version available for $299.</p>
<p>The new software integrated into the iPhone 3G will provide users with faster access to the internet via quad-band GSM and tri-band HSDPA, according to the company.</p>
<p>Steve Jobs, chief executive of Apple, said: "iPhone 3G supports Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync right out of the box, runs the incredible third party apps created with the iPhone SDK, and will be available in more than 70 countries around the world this year."</p>
<p>Apple also announced that over 250,000 developers have downloaded its iPhone Software Development Kit since its launch at the beginning of March.</p>

<p>The 24-carat gold plated iPhone sold after a three day auction, reports vnunet.com. The device was electroplated in pure gold.</p>
<p>It was sold unlocked, so the purchaser can use the phone on any network, however Apple has previously shut down unlocked iPhones via software updates.</p>
<p>The auction advert for the phone said: "Two layers of protection are used to keep the 24-carat gold plated housing in excellent condition for the lifetime of your iPhone.</p>

    <summary type="html"><![CDATA[<p>Napster has launched the world's largest MP3 store with tracks now compatible with the <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2450598-10480548" target="_blank">iPod</a> and <a href="http://www.dpbolvw.net/click-2450598-10489726" target="_blank">iPhone</a>.</p>
<p>The new download store is more than 50 per cent larger than any other MP3 store, according to the company, and all sales in the US will be in the DRM-free MP3 format.</p>
<p>Napster's new shop is in direct competition with Apple's market leading iTunes store and will offer a larger number of songs without copy protection or digital rights management than its competitors.</p>
<p>Visitors to the store can subscribe to Napster's on demand streaming subscription service, which is web-based with no need to download software.</p>
<p>Chris Gorog, chief executive of Napster, said that music fans want to find both major label artists and independent music all in one place.</p>
<p>"Our new MP3 store, together with our award-winning all-you-can-eat music subscription service, provides the most comprehensive and exciting music experience available," added Mr Gorog.</p>
<p>Napster created a stir of controversy in its early existence as a peer-to-peer file sharing network when Metallica found that its entire back catalog was freely available on the site and filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the company.</p>

Computerworld claims that neither US nor UK online stores currently have iPhones available for sale and the shortages have fueled the rumors that a next-generation 3G model will be released shortly.<br />
According to the publication, four retail stores it contacted said that the device is unavailable. One salesman said that "the iPhone is sold out company-wide". Devices on the on-line stores carry the message "currently unavailable".</p>
