Social Network for Older Generation

A new social network is being launched targeting people over the age of 35.

GetBack Media focuses on pop culture from 1968-90 and is filled with music and TV content, reports the Hollywood Reporter.

The site has established links with ScreenPlay to feature movie trailers and will contain music videos from artists signed to Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group.

Other agreements with All Media Guide allows pages to include 30-second samples of over 750,000 songs, and Hulu, the NBC Universal online video venture, will allow episodes of older TV shows such as Kojak and The A-Team to be shown on the site.

Chris Dominguez, GetBack president, told the news portal: "We found that the demographic was coming online with full broadband and using social networking, but there wasn't anything created typically for them."

Mr Dominguez, who is a former executive of MTV Networks and iFilm, said an opportunity was spotted to create a social network for people over 35 who may not be attracted to MySpace and Facebook, which are aimed at the younger generation.

An entrepreneur recently set up a social networking sight to fight malaria. The Malaria Engage site aims to connect people dedicated to fighting the disease and also asks users to donate $10 to research projects in Tanzania.
