McAfee's Mobile Tool Wins Industry Praise

McAfee's newest security system has won praise from industry experts.

Frost & Sullivan gave the company's new McAfee OK system a prestigious award for strategic technology innovation in mobile security.

The McAfee OK tool was released in response to the increase of mobile content and application usage and sharing. It provides a mobile content certification program for content providers, aggregators and network operators.

"McAfee has brought a new edge to the mobile security market and introduced new business models," explained Katie Gotzen, an analyst at Frost & Sullivan.

"The company understands the dynamic nature of the mobile industry, and has adapted its product and channel strategies in order to take advantage of changes and developments such as mobile web 2.0."

Victor Kouznetsov, a senior vice president at McAfee explained that the tool offered a "simple and recognizable way to identify safe content" for mobile users.

"Adoption of new mobile services and applications is increasingly influenced by end user security considerations," he added.

Reports at the start of the year suggested that hackers would increasingly target mobile devices, such as Apple's iPhone, in the coming months.
