Lenovo Launches 'Asset Recovery Services Initiative'
Computer manufacturer Lenovo has revealed details of its new electrical waste recycling plan.
The Lenovo Asset Recovery Services initiative aims to help the company's business customers in the US and Canada to manage electronic equipment which is no longer needed.
Services including computer take-back, data destruction and recycling will be offered, and Lenovo will either give customers cash back for old goods or donate the used computers to good causes.
Fran O'Sullivan, senior vice president of Lenovo, said that the new plan is "one more step" in the company's environmental commitment.
"We're focused on greening the entire lifecycle of our computers, from increasing the lifespan and designing for upgradeability to improving energy efficiency," she added.
Lenovo was recently named the leading PC manufacturer in the Technology Business Research's Notebook IT Buying Behavior and Customer Satisfaction Study for the first quarter of 2008.
